"In the Name of the Father" is a multi-chapter art project by Michel el Hachem that explores themes of transformation, heroism, masculinity, and consumerism inspired by the loss of the artist's father. Through a combination of found objects and paintings, the project challenges the hero myths, examines the links between conventional norms, insecurities, and consumerism and delves into the artist's personal journey of grief. The final chapter of the project retells the story of Icarus, an allegory for the artist’s experiences with the gradual loss of his father’s memory and consciousness and the fragility of the human condition.
